Born on the 22nd of July 1984 in London, England.
I live in Barcelona and have done since the summer of 2006. After working for a digital analytics consultancy (DBi, formerly Elisa Interactive) for 9 years I am currently offering digital marketing services as a freelance and Co-Founder of a technology start-up called Smaze.
On the 5th of May 2010 I fulfilled a lifelong dream by living in South Africa for 3 months, working as a volunteer coaching children football. I wrote about my experience in Africa on a blog which has since been turned it into a book: My Story Behind Africa.
In three words I would describe myself as hardworking, organised and ambitious. I truly believe that if you want something in life and are willing to work hard for it, you can achieve anything you want.
Early Days
I was born in Streatham, England. Aged 3 my parents decided to emigrate from England to Malta which resulted in me spending 6 years of my youth on the beautiful island that is Malta. After this short stint in Malta, my family decided to return to London. Fortunate enough to have a Maltese father and Spanish mother, by the age of 6 I pretty much spoke three languages fluently (Spanish, Maltese and English).
Education
When we moved back to London I was brought up in a Jesuit school, Wimbledon College. Aged 18 it was time for me to embark on university life, moving up north to Lancaster University to study a Marketing Degree with Spanish as a language.
I spent my first two years of university studying in Lancaster. My third year at university involved living in Barcelona for a year working as an assistant English teacher at a language school. After that year in Spain I returned to Lancaster to finish my Marketing degree and came away with a 2.1 degree with a distinction in spoken Spanish.
Work Experience
Once I finished my degree it was time for the real world and I started looking for a proper job. After my great experience in Barcelona I decided to return and work as an English teacher again, with the objective of finding a Marketing job in Spain.
It took me seven months and plenty of job interviews to find the job I was looking for, a Marketing Assistant position working for an online marketing start-up, e-interactive. I was the third employee to join the start-up and after four years of growth I worked my way up to Managing Director of the agency. In April 2013 the company was sold to Havas Media, one of the biggest media agencies in the world.
My role within Havas Media changed over time. In my first year I headed up the performance team in Barcelona. I then moved to DBi, our data specialised unit to become Business Development Director and the following year I had a year stint in our UK office as Sales Director. After 9 years working for e-interactive/DBi/Havas Media, it was time to embark on a new adventure.
I am currently working as a freelance marketing consultant under my own brand, ds consulting. As well as this I have co-founded a technology start-up called Smaze that helps users save money and discover new subscriptions.
Interests
I am a football fanatic. I have played football ever since I was a little boy and my highlights have been representing my county, Merton (aged 14), winning the Surrey Cup with my school, Wimbledon College (aged 16), as well as playing regularly for the Lancaster University first team in my university days.
I am currently playing in an amateur league in Barcelona (Barcelona International Football League) for Flaherty FC, one of the finest Irish pubs in Barcelona. I am also a massive Arsenal fan. I enjoy reading, meditating and keeping myself fit.
After my brief stint in South Africa volunteering I enjoyed the experience so much I am volunteering for a similar organisation in Barcelona called Braval, coaching a teenage football team.
